What I believe I have figured out is that I can simply connect the reverse wire from the head unit to the van's reverse wire. Purchase a new backup camera kit for Dodge RAM & RAM trucks. From what I can now figure out, it is almost simple to wire up either the old camera (not preferred) or a new camera. I plan on now using my new Alpine head unit as a monitor. The monitor for this system is a rear view mirror and is turned off and on via a switch on the mirror. My current "aftermarket" camera system may be on the way out. I will be using my Alpine head unit and I've confirmed that it came with the necessary wiring pigtails to connect to the adaptor cable that comes with the camera.
